Description: Short description: In Russian (ask us if in doubt).The project of restoration of the city (published in 1946) was developed by academician Alexey Viktorovich Shchusev (1873-1949), who visited Istria to inspect the destruction of the Novo-Jerusalem Monastery. According to the architects plan, Istra was to become a Moscow health resort. The project took into account the local natural features of the citys surroundings, its historical past. Some city buildings, according to Shchusevs project, were to resemble the structures of seventeenth-century Russian architecture.
