Description: Short description: In Russian (ask us if in doubt).In 1820, Paskevich was appointed commander of the Guards infantry division, where Nikolai the First, the future Emperor of Russia, served. Paskevich later became one of the governor's most trusted men. In 1926, he led the army in the Caucasus in the campaign against the Persians, after which he was awarded the title Count of Erivan. In 1831, an insurrection in Poland (for which he was awarded the title of Light Prince of Warsaw) was extinguished. Paskevich also distinguished himself in the suppression of the coup in Hungary and in the battles on the Danube in the Crimean War.
