Preobrazhensky had extensive experience (including a foreign one) in agronomic science. Prior to the publication of this book, he studied agronomy at the largest university in Stuttgart, gained experience working in large German and Belgian estates, managed to work as a teacher at the agricultural school of the Moscow Society of Agriculture and head of a practical farm in that society.
