The monument to Alexander II was located in the Moscow Kremlin on the slope of the Kremlin hill facing the Moscow River. Destroyed in 1918. After three years of excavation, the first stone was laid on May 14, 1893. Construction lasted five years, and on August 16, 1898, a solemn opening took place in the presence of Emperor Nicholas II.
