Grigory Petrovich Danilevsky (1829, 1890) is a famous Russian writer who studied at St. Petersburg University and was arrested in 1849 in the Petrashevsky affair; in 1868, he edited the Governmental Gazette. Danilevsky is the author of a series of historical novels and short stories that were once very popular and translated into a number of foreign languages: Mirovichniy (1879), Burned Moskvava (1886), Black Goddess (1889), Potemkin on the Danueva and others.
