Vladimir Gustavovich Tizenhausen (1825-1902) is an orientalist historian, numismatist, custodian of the Imperial Hermitage's collection of oriental coins, a disciple of the eminent oriental scholar, academician H.D. Frein. The author of a series of publications on eastern numismatics, the history of the Golden Horde, coin collections, and treasures. The book is printed by order of the Imperial Archaeological Society and includes descriptions of almost three thousand coins.
