Description: Short description: From 1845 to 1849, Yevgeny Karnovich served as a teacher of the Greek language. In 1850 or 1851, Karnovich moved to Vilna, where he served as governor of affairs in the office of the trustee of the Vilensky School District. In 1854, he was made a member of the College Counselors. In 1856, Karnovich was a member of the Vilensky Archaeological Commission. In 1859, Karnovich retired and settled in St. Petersburg, where he was director of the prison committee for the rest of his life, and was also a member of the St. Petersburg Statistical Committee, the Society for the Allowance of Needy Writers and Scholars, the Russian Geographical Society.
