Description: Short description: In 1953, after demobilization by injury, he entered the Moscow Polygraphic Institute, where he studied with Pavel Zakharov and Ivan Chekmazov. In 1958, Lyon finished his studies, but his subsequent fate as an artist of the book proved extremely difficult. His concept of free drawing in a book, associative illustration, unconstrained by literal follow of text (the artist is not obliged to follow the author, Lyon asserted), ideas of unity of writing and drawing, and dreams of an entire book were far ahead of his time.
