Prince Vladimir Fedorovich Odoevsky (1804-1869) is a Russian writer and thinker of the Romantic epoch, one of the founders of Russian musicology. As a writer and thinker, Prince Odoevsky was for a long time influenced by Hoffmann and F. W. Schelling. He was fascinated by occult teachings, for which he received the nickname of Russian Faust. He is known as a master of a fantastic romantic novel, one of the first in Russia to experiment with the genre of utopia (4338: St. Petersburg Letters), and continued the tradition of educational satire.
