Description: Short description: He was born into an agronomist family. He studied art at Nikolai Prakhovs studio in Kiev (1919-1922), then in Moscow, at K. Chemkos studio school under D. N. Kardovsky (1932-1928). He lived in Moscow and worked mainly in the field of book graphics. In 1935-1936 he designed the Crime and Punishment of F.M. Dostoyevsky, in 1936 he created illustrations for Maxim Gorkys book The Life of Matvei Kozhemyakin, on which he took advice from the author, in 1937 he illustrated A.S. Pushkins The Story of Belkin.
