The Shulchan Aruch (Hebrew for Cooked Table) is the main code of practice in Jewish law, written in the 16th century by the Spanish Rabbi Yosef Karo (1488-1575), which summed up the work of legal authorities for many generations. The Shulchan Arukh is compiled on the basis of the Talmud, from which all specific instructions and legal provisions are selected: therefore, the prepared table, that it remains only to take and fulfill.
