Description: In Russian. Short description: The Service Book of 1655 is the first corrected edition by Patriarch Nikon after the Council of 1654 and is considered a monument of its time. This edition introduced some typographical innovations for the first time. It is bound in period full leather. The central panels on the covers have a diamond-shaped design with a floral ornament. The spine bears the embossed title Service Book. The binding shows signs of wear; many pages are missing (as detailed in the expert report); the pages of the book block are heavily trimmed at the top, with water stains and wax stains. On several pages, tears have been repaired with blue paper. The text of the missing pages (4th folio 484-487) has been replaced with handwritten text on blue paper from the late 18th to early 19th century.
