St. Petersburg, 1907. Kautsky's article was an answer to three questions posed by Plekhanov to leading European socialists. Plekhanov asked, first, about the general character of the Russian revolution: is it bourgeois or social-democratic? Secondly, about the attitude of the Social Democrats towards bourgeois democracy. Thirdly, about the support by the Social Democratic Party of the opposition parties in the elections to the Duma. Kautsky's answer appeared in Neue Zeit, Nos. 9, 10-25 Jahrg. bd. I. In two notebooks of the theoretical organ of the German Social Democracy, the Neue Zeit, Kautsky published an article on The Driving Forces and Prospects of the Russian Revolution.
