Large format. Blind leather binding of the 20th century. A very early printed edition of the Torah of the Renaissance, a museum-quality copy, a model for subsequent editions, the "record holder" of world auctions, “Bomberg s Torah” is a legend in the field of printing. The edition was created in Renaissance Venice in the printing house of the famous first printer Daniel Bomberg and subsequently became a model for many centuries. The font created by Bomberg for Hebrew printing is still in use today and is called the Bomberg Font. The leading Jewish scholars of the time: Felix Pratensis, Elia Levita and others – worked together with Bomberg on the creation of this unique publication. Bomberg was attacked by the Catholic Church towards the end of his life for publishing Hebrew books, but the publisher successfully defended his work during his lifetime. After Bomberg s death, his books were banned and burned by the Catholic Church. Currently, Bomberg s Hebrew editions are worth their weight in gold and sell for tens of thousands of dollars at world famous auctions. SKU000182198
