The famous album published by Karl Rechberg, with images of the costumes and customs of the Russian Empire peoples, was printed in four versions with a total circulation of 612 copies. This two-volume work was created by Korneev and Rechberg in Munich. The writer and historian Georges-Bernard Depping helped with writing the text. Perhaps, this is the most valued by bibliophiles illustrated edition dedicated to the peoples of Russia. Greatest rarity, especially in a complete set. Text is in French, inscriptions under the illustrations are in French and Russian. 92 sheets of engravings depicting types and costumes of various nationalities - Russians, Ukrainians, Tatars, Kirghiz, Nogais, Armenians, Georgians, Chuvashs, Finns - were made according to the drawings of E.M. Korneev and printed from etching boards in aquatint. All engravings are hand-coloured in watercolor. Engravers: I. Laminit, K. Wagner, A. Mants, V. Melnikov, E. Skotnikov, Hess, Gross, V. Osipov and Korneev himself. Volume I is missing sheet No. 18 "Cosaques du Don (Don Cossack)". According to Rovinsky, in all the copies known to him, this sheet was missing; an illustration not listed in the volume s table of contents has been added instead. In this copy, after sheet No. 15 “Skating on the Neva”, an illustration is woven, which is not indicated in the table of contents - “Ice Mountains on the Irtysh near Tobolsk” (drawn and engraved by E. Korneev). The same leaf is also woven into Gubar s copy. In volume I, there is no illustration No. 48 - "La chasse au faucon (Falconry)". Volume II is missing three illustrations: “No. 11 - “Lutte Kalmouke (Kalmyk wrestling)”; No. 18 - “Danse tsherkasse (Circassian dance)” and No. 25 - “Mongole de la Frontiere la Сhine (Border Mongolia with China)” according to the list of illustrations.
