The book was published in 1856 in honor of the coronation of Emperor Alexander II and his wife Maria Alexandrovna. This is a huge edition weighing 30 kg and measuring 92x68.5x11.5 cm. The edition is richly illustrated: there are 52 illustrations in the book, 19 of them are chromolithographs on separate inserts and 33 engraved drawings. Contains color illustrations. The publication was published in 2 languages: French and Russian, with a circulation of 200 copies in each language. The chromolithographs are signed in both languages. The title of the album was printed in large Slavic script in vermilion, as well as in silver and gold, the pages of the album of each chapter with initial letters and frames with various images: royal regalia, palaces and parks, ancient utensils, special large fonts were cast for the text. The original drawings for this edition were made under the supervision and general direction of the vice-president of the Imperial Academy of Arts, Prince Grigory Grigoryevich Gagarin (1810-1893). The drawings were made by famous Russian and foreign artists of that time: Zichy M.A. (1829-1906), Timm V.F. (1820-1895), Sverchkov N.E. (1817-1898), Noel, Boye, Geldro, Monighetti and others. All drawings in the text are printed on Chinese silky paper and are glued. One of the lithographs is a panorama of Moscow taken from the Ivan the Great Bell Tower. It is 1.7 meters long. Specially for this edition, specific fonts were cast, which are not used anywhere else. The album contains a detailed description of all the celebrations and events included the ceremony, indicating all the participants - high-ranking officials, chamberlains, officers, clergymen. The cover of the album is engraved and embossed with the imperial monogram, banners, emblems, etc., and at the corners of the covers there are gilded brass plates with ornaments. SKUANT000003
