It’s a vivid example of constructivism in book design and a clear document demonstrating the amazing changes, rapid growth, colossal flourishing of Moscow in the shortest time. It contains a lot of folding cards, swing sheets, notebooks, cuttings and other techniques of paper plastics and paper architecture. In leatherette publishing binding, relief embossing on the front cover is made of a medallion depicting the Palace of the Soviets. The Album clearly shows the process of reconstruction of the capital in all directions: redevelopment, railway junctions, metro construction, the Moscow-Volga canal, landscaping, and new residential areas. Photographs of houses are side by side with fantastic perspectives of future structures. The authors of the layout are A. Rodchenko and V. Stepanova. Rodchenko is a founder of constructivism, design and advertising in the USSR. Varvara Stepanova is a Soviet avant-garde artist and designer, is also known under the pseudonym Varst.
